The Happy Room Academy
What you do with your house is completely up to you. What items, wallpaper, carpet, theme, etc... that you display in your home is your choice. Although you may be proud of the exotic or retro style that you tactfully placed in your manor, there's a group of people who rate houses based on their style called the Happy Room Academy (HRA for short) and they might not give you such high ratings for your original design.
Beginning your happy adventure
After you've completed all of Nook's tasks at the beginning of the game, Tom will ask you to join the Happy Room Academy by allowing your house to be judged by the group of critiques. After you join the group of the rated, you'll receive a letter from the academy, welcoming you to the club.
The score system
Every time you change the design of your home by moving furniture, adding new items, etc... the HRA will send you a letter containing your score and a few tips. The following is how points are given in the scoring system:

| Wallpaper and carpet of same series | 10 000 |
| Wallpaper or carpet of same series | 4 800 |
| Complete necessities of life (from same series) | 16 000 |
| Complete necessities of life (from different series) | 4 400 |
| Theme furniture | (# of pieces x 7 000)+15 000 |
| Wallpaper and carpet of same theme | 10 000 |
| Completed furniture set | # of pieces x 3 000 |
You also receive bonus points for displaying certain 'rare' items in your home. More information on those items and the points they give you will be posted soon.
