News and Updates

5th of September, 2005 - 24th of December, 2012

After 7 years, Gamexe.net is coming to a close. It's been a great run, and a huge learning experience. We've had a small but thriving community for a long time now, with a lot of dedicated and talented members. After closing the forums for maintenance, I really thought hard about the direction of the site and its current state. Gamexe.net is long past its glory days, and a lot of its most dedicated members have moved on - I guess myself included.

I'll keep the website up for a while; the site still gets over 800 unique visitors a day despite its inactivity, so people are still visiting and flipping through its pages. The forums will stay disabled, though, and at some point I may delete them.

And of course, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those who've played a part in this site's history. You've made running it a lot of fun, and your contributions are what made Gamexe.net so great. Hopefully I'll keep in touch with some of you, and best of luck to everyone.

Thanks!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Hello all, it's been a long time.

We'd like to develop a new playercard/emblem editor for Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 2, as many are currently requesting via email. In order to do this we need to figure out a way to handle Treyarch's .ipak files, which have "KAPI" (ipak backwards, ha) as the header. I haven't seen this kind of format before. It doesn't look like it follows the format of any known .pak standards, and Dragon UnPACKer couldn't handle it. Looking through hex dumps shows that the format seems to use a lot of padding: (A7)h and (CD)h, and each file is delimited by (00)h. The format resembles quake .pak files, but with the extra padding that's throwing me off. If anyone has any information or an idea on how it works, I'd appreciate a hint.

In other news, the forums had been swamped by spam and bots. As such, they've been temporarily disabled, and will get them back online later this week.

Gamexe.net Moving Servers

The forums and content generators will be temporary offline while we move Gamexe.net to a new server. This is to maintain an accurate database backup during the transition.

Feb 10 Update: Everything should be just about back to normal! Might have to wait for DNS to propagate though.

Pure's recommended update: Everything's moved!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Hope everyone's enjoying their break from school, work, etc. During my break from university, I hope to have all the phpBB3 styles updated for 3.0.9, and then submitted to phpBB.com once again for validation. twilightBB is already up, and I'll update this post when the rest are as well.
Happy Holidays! :csmile:

Edit: All styles have been updated for phpBB 3.0.9
