Happy New Year! and Staff Openings!
Here's an early Happy New Year shout out for everyone! Another 7 hours t'ill the big '10! And so I thought, to kick off the new year, I'd open up the staff application process as I mentioned I would around Christmas time. As of right now, there's two positions that are currently open: Graphic Designer and Tutorial Writer. If interested in helping out with Gamexe.net as a member of staff in either of these two fields, feel free to pm me after reviewing the following requirements:
Posts: 200 posts, in order to ensure that you're a trusted member of the community
Submission: Must include 1 new tutorial with the application if applying for Tutorial Writer, or 15 total signatures and avatars if applying for Graphic Designer. The tutorial should say Gamexe.net on it, and all sigs and avatars should have text removed. Content already on Gamexe.net, whether simply offered or through a contest will not be considered.
Activity: Graphic Designers will be expected to post 15 new signatures or avatars a month. Tutorial Writers at least 1 tutorial a month.
(note: avatars should have dimensions of 80x80, 90x90, or 100x100 pixels. signatures cannot be animated or transparent)
Of course, the quality of the works will be considered during the reviewing process.
And that's pretty much it. Hope everyone's holidays have been great so far!

Expected downtime
Over the next couple days, there will be some expected down time. This is because I'm reinstalling gamexe.net on the VPS to fix some server/permission issues which had rendered the backend CMS a bit useless. With this, staff adding content easily should be once again available.
And with that in mind, applications for new positions will be open soon after the new year.

New staff, and new positions opening up!
I'd like to finally welcome, after a very long delay and being quite busy myself *cough*CoD*cough*, Stylish Implosion to staff as our latest tutorial writer.
He's contributed some great work to the site so far, and I hope that he'll continue to do so. Soon even.
*hint hint*
I'd also like to announce that new positions for Gamexe.net staff will be opening up shortly. I'm going to be getting the backend working once again, at which point staff will all be able to independently update the site just like the 'ol days.
Ultimately, we're going to be looking for active signature designers to contribute to the sig page, who will create sigs *without text* so that anyone can use them. The same goes for avatar designers. Tutorial writers will also be appreciated, as usual, in any of the fields and subjects available on the site. If interested, I'll have a form and process setup sometime before christmas for applications. I know, eh? Christmas? Well, this way I can't disappoint. :P

New Call of Duty website up! CodFaction.com!

http://www.codfaction.com/
A must see for any Call of Duty fan. I spent quite some time designing the skin, and I think it turned out pretty good, although even now it's a WIP. I plan on making various changes once the game comes out to accommodate the style and interface. Heck, the whole site is a WIP, as many features are planned for the future. So what can one expect? Well, with a bit of activity, I can guarantee some cash prize tournaments. So check it out.

Gamexe.net Tutorial Contest #2!

The second tutorial contest has finally arrived. Seeing as the first went so well, and the advertisements are finally starting to bring in the extra income necessary to hold this competition more consistently, I figured, why not be generous.
So, there's a couple major changes to this competition. The first is the length, as the entry deadline is the 24th of Aug. This should offer plenty of time to get your entries in. The second is the amount of entries we should expect. Now, each user can submit multiple tutorials under their name (as outlined in the rules): this should help contribute to the competitive nature of the contest. As well, this will help users attract further votes by appealing to a larger variety of users through multiple tutorials. And finally, the biggest change, which is the one all look forward to, is in the prizes. For this contest, $40 is up for grabs for 1st place, $20 for 2nd, and $10 for third. A fair increase from the previous, I'd like to think.
So go check out the topic by either clicking on the banner above, or the following link: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2262 You, as a user, have a decent amount of time to enter the competition, but I wouldn't recommend procrastinating so much that you might miss the deadline. This isn't school, and I won't give an extension that easily haha.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing all the great entries this time.

Signatures and more signatures!
So this seems to be a signature-themed announcement. The free signature section has been modified and several new submissions have been entered. In addition, the system is now categorized, and additional sub-categories are planned for the future. And browsing has been facilitated quite a bit by converting all non-animated and non-transparent images to jpg, and optimizing them. Because of this, the file size of most images, which were between 50-100kb, have been now been reduced to 15-30kb. The overall size of the signature section has been cut by almost a quarter.

^Look, only 15kb!
In addition, the most recent SOTW has now begun the voting process! I'd definitely recommend checking it out by going to: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2219 Good luck to the participants.
Expect more updates soon.
